From Basel Al-Aswad to his son and EIL founder, Christopher, on his 34th birthday:

We mark your birthday today, dear Chris. You would have turned 34 years old. But you are gone and we are still here.

“Death,” Kubler-Ross puts it, “is simply a shedding of the physical body like the butterfly shedding its cocoon.”  Joan Chittister adds, “Fly, butterfly, fly. The beauty in you keeps the spark of beauty alive in us too.”

All of us in EIL plan to do just that. Happy Birthday Chris. We miss you dearly.
