The Video Art of Makoto Yabuki

Makoto Yabuki’s video works elicit an abstract wonder with materials that cross the borders between nature, science, and reality. The ambient music by Takaya Murakami slowly gathers around the motion graphics, often producing a meditative viewing experience. “As One” is an original work by Yabuki while “White Box” was produced for a client. The animation of “As One” unfolds in what looks like a gallery, and conjures up allusions to sculpture and paintings. “White Box” takes place in a designer’s studio, and seems to comment on the creative process through the use of augmented reality.
