About The Artists

Chadwick Gray and Laura Spector, artists from New York City, have been creating work together since they met in 1994.  Their artwork has crossed over disciplines of photography, performance art, painting, video and even theater.

In New York City, they were working extensively on their Museum Anatomy project (which began in 1995), where they recreate paintings from museum storage spaces onto the human body.  They both received fellowship awards from the New York Foundation for the Arts in 2001, as well as worldwide press recognizing their achievements.

They relocated to Chiang Mai, Thailand in 2001 to continue their Museum Anatomy work.  During their stay, they were commissioned to create a miniature golf course, where they acquired a large factory studio space.  After the commission was complete, they began experimenting with drawing and painting.  Their newest work intertwines themes with their past work in the idea of beauty and illusion.  They repeatedly play with the concept of what is seen and what is real.  Their artwork is conceptual in nature, however they believe that the final outcome must also be visually compelling.

While in Thailand, they are also working with fellow Thai and Lisu artists, experimenting with new materials and merging western design with eastern craftsmanship and materials (La Luna Gallery)
