Escape Into Life, online arts journal, pushes the boundaries of visual art and
literature, blending the two together until they become one poem – a work of Visual Poetry.
My name is Abigail Markov, and I am an Experimental Painter. I paint because I love it; because I need painting as much as I need blood in my veins. Painting is my playground, where I have free rein to explore the point in the middle of my chest where love of art, chemistry, and physics meet. Painting is my playground, where I have free rein to explore the point in the middle of my chest where love of art, chemistry, and physics meet my own psychology.
Painting is my sanctuary, my freedom, my sanity - my heart and soul on canvas. It is often raw - paint thrown, splattered or spread with my own hands. The finished works have been described as powerful, moving, breath-taking; emotion unconfined by the constraints of shape and form - primal, honest, visceral, bypassing the rationalizing, categorizing, calculating, judgmental mind and going straight for the heart and gut. Fitting, because that's where they come from.
