Artist Statement

Chiarina Loggia is an award winning artist living in Victoria, BC, Canada. Painter, printmaker, poet – her art is a lyrical dance of imagery and words on a voyage of discovery, destination unknown.

“My art is primarily about communication. One of the great joys of making art is making connections with other people through it, often by finding meaning in the work that is both unintended and yet surprisingly insightful. When creating art my ultimate goal is to produce works that I hope will resonate deeply with the viewer and elicit an emotional response which will encourage reflection and open dialogue and understanding between people.
My inspiration comes from the relationships and experiences in my life. Meditations on love, loss, passion and compassion abound in my work. Places I have lived, especially Japan, have left their indelible mark and developed my aesthetic sensibilities.
I am continually attempting to push boundaries in my art, delving into subjects and ideas that take me out of my comfort zone. Self portraits are the most personal, challenging and intimidating artworks I feel I can do. Through these and other figurative studies I strive to express something universal in the personal.”

  4. Chiarina Loggia, with every piece of art she creates, invites one into a world of intriguing mysteries which slowly reveal their truths to each person who has the pleasure in viewing her creations; especially, when viewing her work live in a gallery! The impression one is left with is that her work is speaking to you …and you alone! And interestingly, her art never fails to connect in some kind of secret place, within deeply, which brings meaning to everyday life around one. And yet, with each observer, that meaning is different and personal. I’ve yet to view her art and not learn something about myself that has made me smile…and often, smile well after having viewed her work. Her art never stops speaking. An amazing woman and an amazing artist!! Chiarina Loggia is destined to become one of the world’s eminent artists recognized for her incredible ability to capture meaningful moments of life embodied in timeless prints of beauty!! Mark my words! Check out this up and coming artist and let her work speak to you too!!
