I make art because it is fun for me. I treat art making with the seriousness a person would have for a session of Nintendo. I work with intuition and a love for paint materiality in my process of laying down gestural patterns and fields of colors. Out of these abstract shapes I find spaces in which I can illustrate iconography from the excess culture jam I grew up in, whether they are characters inspired by a Max Fleischer animation, or creatures pulled directly from the virtual reality of Nintendo games. I include these characters from the culture of mass media and digital diversions, because they create a psycho alternate reality that I like to explore.

it’s like a mix of Harajuku (Japanese street fashion) that was partying, and then it tripped over and died in an accident. I love these paintings.
