Artist Statement
My work is a series of studies and meditations about transition, transformation, and the enigma of form becoming energy and the way that new form is manifested both within the self and in the outer world.
These paintings focus on specific energy centers (chakras) located in the core of the body and on the effort to maintain balance while existing in a constant state of flux.
The triptych format connotes ideas of connectivity, flexibility, and interaction. The paintings may be displayed in numerous ways; i.e., single-panel, diptych, triptych, composite, and serial formats are options, and either a vertical or a horizontal orientation may be selected.
About the Artist
Carol Lukitsch lives and works in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. She received a master’s in fine arts degree from The University of Maryland, College Park, and bachelor’s degree in fine arts, summa cum laude, from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. The recipient of a Fulbright grant, she was a senior lecturer in Turkey for two years. She has taught drawing, painting, and design at several colleges and universities.
The curator and director of exhibitions at Arlington Arts Center, Arlington, Virginia, from 2003 to 2007, Lukitsch has exhibited extensively, both in the United States and abroad, in solo, juried group, and invitational group shows. Her work is in numerous private and public collections, including The Museum of Contemporary Art, Montecatini, Italy; The State Museum of Painting and Sculpture, Ankara, Turkey; The National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C.; Akin, Bump, Strauss, Hauer and Feld, Washington, D.C.; Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom, Washington, D.C.; and The United States Embassy in Panama.
