STREAM: We Can’t Be Beat by the Walkmen

This is about as close to a perfect song as 2012 is going to get. The plaintive picking of an acoustic guitar is joined by little more than frontman Hamilton Leithauser’s gravelly croon and some somber “ooh” and “aah” harmonies (provided by Robin Pecknold of Fleet Foxes fame). And then comes the 2.39 mark, when Hamilton takes those gravelly vocal chords of his on a run that makes time stop and the hair on the back of your neck stand up. It doesn’t get better than this.
