Winter Issues
Our EIL poets are warming up the Internet this winter!
Jessy Randall and Daniel M. Shapiro, who so often appear together, appear together again in the winter issue of Arsenic Lobster! But each is responsible for her or his own poems: “One Hundred Things” by Jessy and “All Women” by Daniel.

Carol Berg has five poems—count them, five!—in the winter issue of Menacing Hedge, and you can even hear her read them there. She’s also in the inaugural issue of the new journal Heron Tree, where EIL poet Sandy Longhorn is newly an editor!
Robert McDonald has three short poems in the winter issue of Right Hand Pointing, which specializes in the very short poem. Robert’s poems take us into warmer seasons, and then smack us in the heart.
Some of our EIL poets were nominated for Pushcart Prizes, not just here, but at other magazines. Sarah J. Sloat was nominated by Birdfeast for her poem “Lines written in a Japanese noodle shop watching a building being demolished,” a title (since revised) you might recall from this EIL Blog post about her chapbook Excuse me while I wring this long swim out of my hair and also about short poems with long titles!! Sloat has a 3-part prose poem on re-reading Thomas Hardy in the winter issue of Saudade Review. And her chapbook (with the long title) is reviewed in the winter issue of Prick of the Spindle.
So are a couple books by the very prolific Howie Good! While I often do mini-reviews of our poets in the EIL Blog, I reviewed two of Good’s books, Love Dagger and Dreaming in Red (one contains the other!), in a double review there. And C. L. Bledsoe reviews Good’s books After Aurora and Living is the Spin Cycle. How many books can Howie Good write?!
Bledsoe also reviews Wearing Heels in the Rust Belt by our EIL poet Karen J. Weyant.
Also going around this winter is The Next Big Thing, a blog-tagging adventure in which writers answer a set of questions about the book (novel, or book of poems) or story they are working on at present or one that is soon to come out. EIL poet Mary Biddinger answered the questions at her blog about her next Black Lawrence Press book of poems, O Holy Insurgency.

This morning I opened the January issue of The Sun and found a beautiful poem by Lee Rossi, another of our EIL poets.
And Bethany Reid and Christina Lovin have new books out. And Chris Tysh’s book came out this fall.
