Artist Bio
Mary is a British artist and qualified in Illustration at Bournemouth College of Art in 1989. She works for publishers of books, magazines and greetings cards,Mary has been visiting Greece for 15 years and recently lived on Spetses (one of the Saronic islands). The island is very pretty with pine trees and beautiful coves where you can find peace. You can walk up to the centre. of the island for fantastic views, or cycle around the coast. She sketched and painted the beaches, landscapes, and churches and was commissioned by some of the residents to paint traditional houses. Her aim is to capture the beauty and light of the greek landscape and evoke the feelings of escape from everyday life. Mary held exhibitions of her work at Orloff in the old harbour and Loutrivi taverna. She also has work displayed in Emporium Gallery in Hydra. Recent paintings include the taverna at Anarghiri and Agia Anna near Scholes beach.
