Artist Statement

“Currently, the foundation of my work is rooted in the aspect of empathy. I have come to rely on drawing and painting in monochrome tones as my primary medium. Through my technical abilities, I attempt to portray and exaggerate the little things in life – the small details many may not notice. The ability to detail relates to the notion of empathy – recognizing and appreciating life found in common, everyday objects. The minute details in any given subject continue to intrigue, fascinate, and inspire me. Each seemingly insignificant texture demonstrates an ability to recognize and convey aspects of life that often go unnoticed.”

“One of the most important aspects in my development involves my study of art history and contemporary art. Art history helps me better understand the visual language of art. By studying artists from different movements, I can truly appreciate and learn from each artist’s impact. An artist’s insight into his or her time period is not only timeless but inspirational. To me, there is nothing more inspiring than seeing an artist’s impact on society.”
